- Abstract:

In response to the Spartina alterniflora dieback event
occurring in 2000, Task 1-2 was tasked with characterizing
the progression and/or recovery of brown marsh using
Landsat 7 ETM+ satellite imagery. Landsat scenes were
acquired for the coastal zone of Louisiana for 2000 and
2001. The scenes underwent a supervised classification,
incorporating a Normalized Difference Vegetation Index, and
then mosaicked to represent a brown marsh classification
for the coastal zone of Louisiana for 2000 or 2001. The
same procedure was also performed on Landsat scence from
1999 covering the Terrebonne Bay area. This data set
represents the classification of the Landsat ETM+ imagery
for 2001.

Data generated by the Brown Marsh principal investigators

investigators, following the established QA/QC review, for
a period of two years. After two years from the
finalization of the data, it shall be made available to the

data be directly acquired from the Brown Marsh Database
Information Management System server and not indirectly
through other sources which may have changed the data in
some way.
